About Larry (pharmbouy)(Capt'n Gadget):

Occasionally in my lifetime there occurs some brief moments of intense creativity when an idea enters my head (usually after a tequila or two) of which I cannot leave alone. When this, for the lack of a better word, CREATIVITY occurs, it sometimes produces a small token of interest in some of my friends of which I would like to share with you.

Dodge.....:
This following item was produced during our stay at a beach called "Santispac" located on the "Bay of Conception" in Southern Baja Mexico. The photo was taken at a beach North of Santispac at Punta Chivato overlooking what we call "Shell Beach". It was the Winter of 2004............................Dodge Home Comming!

Dodge Home Coming

There it is.... down there below, that nation of heat and thorn.
That land that is so rugged, that land where I was born.
You see they need it really tough, where only the strong still lodge,
A place that is so formidable,.. a place to build the Dodge.

It happened this way, and how do I know?.....I'm only a truck you say,
So sit down here, and pull up a beer....and I'll tell you about that day.
They told me about the first part ... that day that was so hot.
I wish I could remember it then, but no chip was in my slot.

There was this big huge building, with racks and racks of parts,
but most of all there was this line,... the line up of the carts.
Those carts, they kept on moving and everything was apart,
there were wheels for legs and doors for arms and a fuel pump for a heart.

They passed these rows of people now, their arms were just a flying.
There were men and women and mums and dads and I think a baby was crying.
A fender here and a bumper there....yes, it all took place so fast,
but the most important thing of all, they saved for the very last.

A hush began, all eyes did turn, a whisper or two.. and a moan,
you could see it now, at the end of the line all shiny and alone.
That Dodge was just so beautiful..... from its top right to its frame,
and now the final step remained...the insertion of its brain.

Then this beautiful girl in the white lab coat... walked in with a sway of hip,
and in her hand held high, towards the sky, was the gleam of a computer chip.
She lifted the hood, every one stood back....there was a blinding light!
My lights came on, my thoughts began...my world was very bright.

There came a cheer and the waving of hats, and smiles they did abound,
that girl jumped in, and turned a key....there was a powerful sound.
She drove me out into that bright bright sun, her eyes were all aglow,
she told me that,... one day I'd be back,... to her land of Mexico.

So you see me now up on this cliff with that beautiful land below...
the warm beaches beckoning, those shells just sparkling, and a sea that is all aglow.
My story you've heard, I can tell your impressed, whether you knew it or not, before.
It takes a rough land to build a strong truck and a Dodge is tougher than tough... to the core.

Sandfish.....:
There is a legend in Los Barriles, that its beaches may be inhabited by a species of fish called the "sand fish". These fish are very rare and reside just under the sand. They are very difficult to catch and so most fishermen prefer to fish the sea when ever they can. But on occasion, when the winds have been blowing for weeks at a time and no boat dare enter the water, the urge to fish becomes so great that the occasional intrepid fisherman takes to his ATV to troll for these illusive little buggers. Thus sometimes, during a quiet evening happy hour one may hear a toast to Captain Sandfish and the singing of his beer drinking ditty.............

Ballad of Capt'n Sand Fish

sandfish photo
(sung as a ditty like Gilligan's Island)

What say you lads, come follow me,.. a hunting, we will go.
The waves are high, no boat today,- we won't.., have to row.

(chorus) So its up the beach .. and down the beach, .. pedal to the metal of the floor.
What attracts the fish, and that is your wish, ...the sound of a 4 cycle roar!

We can track them down, I know their smell..and they reside right on the land.
Those fish are fighters, ...they're tough to get ...for they hide beneath the sand.

It's a tale I'm told, .. that only the bold,...like the ones with an ATV,
can catch those fish, those elusive fish, those fish that live out of the sea.

They are hard to find, they are very fast, ...they make a wonderful dish.
Not everyone knows, not even the crows, ....the se...crets of the SAND FISH.

A weight is used, and the rods placed wide, but this secret don't ever tell,
you must hang on tight, and drive just right .........like a maniac.. from hell!

An hour here, two hours there, sometimes it takes .. a while.
So hang in there and hunker down and go that extra .. mile.

If you tried your best, you passed the test, your heart can't fill with .. sorrow.
So suck up a beer and check your gear ... and get ready for another .. tomorrow.
